Cervical smears

At present normal smears are repeated every 3 years for women aged 25 – 49 years and every 5 years for women aged 50 – 64 years.

If you are between 25 and 64 years of age you should receive a recall automatically, but if you have not had a smear within the above timescales please make an appointment.

A smear is the only way to detect early changes to the neck of the womb and allow treatment to prevent cancer.
